‘2005 예배갱신상[그랜트]’ 시온한인교회
3회 연속 수상…주최 측 홈페이지에 소개도
캘빈칼리지 기독교예배연구소(CICW)가 수여하는 ‘2005 예배갱신’(Worship Renewal Grants) 수상자로 한인교회를 포함한 54 교회∙단체가 뽑혔다.
유일한 한인 수상자는 로드아일랜드 소재 시온 한인연합감리교회(선우혁 목사). 이 교회는 2003∙2004년에 이어 세 번에 걸쳐 거듭 선정돼, 주최 측 홈피에 특별소개되기도 했다. 시온 교회의 올해 수상 프로젝트는 어린이∙청소년 등 새신자용 도입프로그램 계발.매주 이중언어 성만찬, 복합문화 음악, 창의적 예배형성이 포함되며 이웃 미국인 교회인 힐스그로브 연합감리교회와 파트너십으로 복합문화[다문화] 예배축제, 정의탐구, 청소년사역도 한다. 시온 교회는 이번 수여받은 상금[그랜트]으로 프로젝트를 실시하게 된다.
2004년엔 신앙공동체에 초점을 맞춰 복합문화 예배팀이 이끄는 다세대∙다문화 예배계발로 어린이∙어른들이 함께 참여하는 음악과 매 주일 성찬을 가졌다. 2003년에도 역시 매주 이중언어 성만찬∙음악을 통한 다세대 예배모델 개발을 위해 매달 예배∙영성 학교를 개설, 예배기획자훈련, 문화적 센스를 갖춘 예배환경 조성을 위한 자원 계발을 통해 한인1, 2세들의 화합에 기여했다. 매주일 세대 차를 메우기 위해 어린이∙청소년들을 동석시킨 가운데 한국어∙영어로 성만찬을 집례해온 선우 목사는 “성만찬은 언어장벽을 깬다”고 평가한다. 이 교회는 2002년부터 18개월간의 성만찬 교육을 거쳐 매 주일 성만찬을 시작했다. 처음엔 성찬의 무게를 가볍게 한다고 느끼는 이들도 “지금은 교우들이 깊은 경외심을 갖게 됐음을 고백하곤 한다”고 선우 목사는 전했다.
한편 CICW는 릴리재단으로부터총750만불을 지원받아 2008년까지 예배를 국제적, 에큐메니컬적으로 풍요롭게 변화시키는 프로젝트를 창안, 제출하는 교회∙단체를 상대로 매년이 상금을 수여하고 있다. 기금지원을 받아 프로젝트를 이행하고 싶은 교회는 http:∙∙webapps.calvin.edu∙ worship∙grants∙apply.php의 요령대로 신청하면 된다. (크리스찬투데이)
